BOSTON
Located in the New England region of USA, capital of Massachusetts and biggest city of the region, Boston is actually a relatively small, pleasant town. Some great places to visit:
1) Boston Common
Boston Common forms the central focal point of the city, a lovely
green lung where you can see squirrels climbing up trees, stroll
and just sit and relax around.
Tours of the Freedom Trail depart from the Common.
2) Children's Museum
The Children Museum's an excellent place to bring your kids, and everyone knows that, there are huge queues of families on weekends. The museum has a varied array of things to do, amd a few hours can easily be spent here.
3) Science Museum
Not enjoyed by us, but gets good reviews. Also good for kids.
4) MIT
Get down at Kendal/MIT T stop and explore! The MIT campus is wonderful, and walking is fun. There is a lot of river at it, so walking is even better.
5) Harvard Sq
A little away from Central Boston, Harvard is a lovely square, what location! There's great eating and shoping here, stroll!
Things to Do
1) Duck Tours- Not experienced...but sounds great! Departs from Prudential Centre.
2) Whale-Watching- There are more dolphins to be seen, but this
tour is great on a clear day. Besides the animals, there are good
views of the Boston city skyline (the skyline picture was taken
from the boat), and the water's nice to look at too.
3) Freedom Trail- This is the blockbuster fame to Boston. You'll pass through history- see the monuments etc. It starts at Boston Common, and a tape-like thing on the road shows you the way. It passes through lanes, and is very long so be prepared! On the way you'll see Quincy Market
Quincy Market- Outside, you'll see many stalls and shops. Inside, it's a large food court, very very busy, serving from Indian to Italian to Greek to amazing desserts and so on. It can be a huge crowd inside, especially on Saturday afternoons.
Back to Freedom Trail, I recommend to walk at least half of it, it's worthwhile.
Where to Stay
There were 3 hotels experienced by us:
1) Westin Boston Waterfront (http://www.westinbostonwaterfront.com/)
It'a lovely hotel with a lovely lobby. Upstairs your plush room await. WTC (World Trade Centre) T station is closeby.
2) Seaport Hotel (http://www.seaportboston.com/)
Lovely hotel, close to the airport. Also close to the city. Plush rooms, but pricey.
3) Charles Hotel (http://www.charleshotel.com/)
In Harvard Sq, lovely location! Good rooms, but check for dirt.
Food
See Quincy Market above. There is amazing food everywhere, you won't go hungry here!
Transport
Boston isn't a big city. The T is efficient, and you can rely on it for much of Central Boston.
