Yercaud

Yercaud is a nice, small hill station in Tamil Nadu.
A park along the lakeside

The journey from Bangalore: 4 hr drive. You have to take NH7 into Salem (a very good road) and then from there, to Yercaud.

Yercaud is a fine place to roam around the streets and see the lakeside.

The lake has boating opportunities. There are two parks adjacent to the lake, open from 9 am- 6 pm or so.

Pagoda Point is a point above Yercaud, a drive along a bad road, which yields good views of Yercaud and the surrounding area from far above. Along the drive, a few temples come along the way.

Accommodation:
We stayed at the Lake Forest, minutes to the lake by foot (maybe less than a few minutes though...). The resort is quite rustic and nice with spacious rooms with an appealing ambiance. The food served is quite forgettable and unattractive though.

Food:
We ate at Lake Forest (above) as well as the GRT Hotel--which served a good bufet--with Indian and Western cuisine.

Best time to Go:

Summer's quite bad here (weather-wise)--March to June. May especially can be very hot. We went in early March, when the heat started up already. October-February: best time.
